Domain Construction

Recruiting powerful allies to build your own fighting force is one of the most exciting and rewarding parts of Conquest. In what follows we'll consider the rules and strategies necessary to build a strong and balanced domain.

In Conquest, building an A-grade domain is about a lot more than simply acquiring the rarest cards and throwing them together. If you're going to be successful, your domain must implement a core strategy while also providing balance based on the various opponents you might face.

First off, remember the following rules of domain construction:

  • Your domain can consist of three alignments from the following pool:

    • Select either order or chaos.

    • Select either industrial or natural

    • Select one of the four elements (fire, water, earth, air).

Remember, you do not need to use resources in all three alignments that you have chosen. However, you cannot use any resources from alignments other than these three.

  • Your domain must consist of at least 50 resources—there is no maximum limit.

  • Your domain must consist of no more than 3 copies of any resource.

  • Exceptions: You can use an unlimited number of the following: cities, shrines, mines, channels.

In the articles that follow, you will learn the following:

  • How to construct your domain around a core strategy.

  • How to balance your domain with an appropriate amount of locations and upgrades to achieve a peak income.

  • How to balance your domain with a variety of differently sized units.

  • How to complement your domain with supporting resources, such as actions/spells, conditions, and items.

  • How to balance your domain between gold and mana resources.

  • What the optimal size for a domain is.

  • The pros and cons of using combos in your domain.

While going through these tutorials, it may be helpful for you to have a set of resources for a domain available, and build your first domain as you go along.
