5 Insane Air Resources

Air doesn't get its reputation as ferocious, unpredictable, and dangerous for nothing. Below are 5 truly insane Air resources.

Dualstrike trestine - This wicked blade essentially bends the laws of physics: Forget one-to-one combat. That's old hat. Well, technically, one-to-one combat does exist. Only with a trestine, you get to choose whether you want to engage another unit, assuming your fighter is still alive to do so. Excellent against guarding units, and with an avek with a trestine can engage three units. Now that's insane!

Rummage - Lose 10 to gain 5? Seems like fuzzy math, but don't be deceived: rummage is a ridiculously powerful action. Since the resources are from your domain, and not your arsenal, you're really gaining resource advantage in the long run. Though, beware: 50-resource domains probably aren't going to cut it with rummage. As one last note, my personal experience indicates that rummage has its own Murphy's Law: if there's a resource you really don't want to lose out of those 10, you're going to lose it.

I remember judging a booster draft a few months back, and one of the guys had drafted a rummage and a fervent wyvern. (Note: rummage is not a good draft resource.) Anyway, the first game he played, he rummaged away the wyvern. The second, he lost before getting the wyvern. And the third game, he was going to win, but then, just as he whittled down to the end of the domain: the wyvern was the bottom resource (which can't ever be acquired). Bummer.

Viroz conduit - Fondly referred to as "Santa Clause" by the Conquest makers for his bright red cape, this crazy avek does what only a few resources in the game can do: immobilize defending units. It works like this: (1) see a unit defending location of your choice, (2) decide you don't want to deal with him, and (3) pull him out of the location using the conduit's spell. One other startling feature to this wizard is his strike and armor: 30/40. Why not just give him the trestine?

Cloak of resurgence - Resurge can feel like a hefty price for one enable, and armor never does you wrong. The solution? Use cloak of resurgence. With a 20 armor boost plus enabling the unit you equip it with, this is one truly sick armor. Best use: deploy an avek slayer, equip it with the cloak, and hit them with a surprise 60/60. Too bad Basodes can't use the cloak.

Fervent crik - You probably didn't expect this peasly 5/5 to make the list, but don't doubt what the crik can do for you. If deployed on your first term (especially if you go first), the crik can quickly sway the match in your favor with early damage to your opponent's encampment or by taking an upgrade or two out. Just remember not to bother pulling the fervent crik back, unless it's your only unit a few terms later. It's generally better to keep him out, let him die, and serve as bait.

Pretty insane, huh? Do you think any of them are too good, or maybe not that good at all? Send me an This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or chime in on Twitter.
